Dignified Social Inclusion & Mass Marriage Initiative (Shagun)
Need
Many vulnerable families struggle with the economic and social pressures associated with marriage. In several communities, these pressures contribute to unsafe marriages, debt, exploitation, and social insecurity.
Structured and dignified support systems can help vulnerable women access safer pathways to social inclusion while promoting community accountability and gender-sensitive practices.

Objective
Shagun aims to empower young women to prevent exploitation and vulnerabilities related to the institution of marriage through financial and counselling support.
Tools/Activities
The initiative supports socially and economically vulnerable women through dignified mass marriage platforms, community support, counselling, and social inclusion mechanisms.

Intervention Strategy
The initiative promotes safe, transparent, and consent-based marriage practices while reducing the financial burden on vulnerable families. It also integrates legal awareness, health counselling, and post-marriage support systems.
Theory of Change
If vulnerable women and families receive dignified social support, safe marriage facilitation, and community-led protection mechanisms, then exploitation and unsafe social practices can reduce. Over time, this will contribute to stronger social security and gender dignity.
