SAMADHAN

SUMMARY

The SAMADHAN Project, launched by Ladli Foundation in early 2022, is a holistic initiative addressing socio-economic and health challenges in Delhi’s Parvatiya Camp slum. It integrates key areas such as crime prevention, women’s healthcare, education, digital literacy, and gender sensitization. The project unites Ladli’s flagship programs—Saheli (women’s health and anemia eradication), Josh (youth rehabilitation from substance abuse), and Pathanshala (primary education and school re-enrollment)—alongside workshops promoting gender equality. Benefiting over 300 families, SAMADHAN offers a sustainable model for community upliftment in underserved areas.

CAUSE

Parvatiya Camp, a densely populated slum of migrant families, faces severe challenges like inadequate housing, lack of sanitation, high unemployment, and limited access to education and healthcare. Women suffer from widespread anemia, while men and boys are vulnerable to substance abuse and crime due to limited opportunities. These conditions perpetuate poverty and inequality, hindering community growth. Recognizing these issues, SAMADHAN adopted a targeted, multi-dimensional approach to empower families through health interventions, education, gender sensitization, and access to essential resources.

OUR ACTION

  • SAMADHAN began with a comprehensive baseline survey to understand the community’s needs and priorities.

  • Ladli Foundation conducted diagnostic screenings for 1,500 women and adolescent girls, with 800 identified as anemic. These women received chana and jaggery supplies as part of a low-cost anemia reduction strategy, combined with ongoing health education with the follow-up screenings.

  • In addition to healthcare, SAMADHAN focused on educational engagement, re-enrolling school dropouts in government schools through the Pathanshala program, and boosting digital literacy among children.

  • For youth at risk, the Josh program offered sports activities, mental health counseling, and guidance to 568 young boys, redirecting them away from substance abuse and potential criminal involvement.

  • SAMADHAN addressed socio-economic barriers by facilitating Aadhar card registrations, opening bank accounts, and supporting access to pension schemes, including widow pensions.

  • Men participated in gender sensitization workshops and pledged to uphold women’s rights and safety, reflecting positive behavioral shifts within the community.

IMPACT

The SAMADHAN Project has generated significant, long-term benefits for Parvatiya Camp residents, helping to improve health, education, and social stability.

  • The anemia eradication program alone has transformed the lives of 789 women, enhancing their overall health and ability to contribute to their families and community.

  • The education initiatives have reconnected 38 children with academic pursuits, ensuring that they receive the foundational knowledge needed for future success.

  • Through the Josh program, hundreds of young boys are now engaged in constructive activities, reducing their exposure to drugs and crime, while fostering a sense of responsibility and self-worth.

  • Financial literacy sessions and welfare support have provided families with the knowledge and tools to access essential government schemes, including widow pensions, which were previously out of reach.

  • The project’s impact on men, who committed to ending violence against women, marks a transformative shift toward a safer and more inclusive environment.

SAMADHAN not only addresses immediate needs but also lays the foundation for sustainable growth and resilience within underserved communities.
